2007 RECAP

The 2007 Heritage Festival Kids' Corner was packed with creative, hands-on activities and fun. There were also many family-friendly performances and special events, including model trains at the American Legion and the giant climbing wall, Travelin’ Barnyard, and Children’s Museum Exhibit all on the waterfront.

WHIRLYGIGS

Come and learn what lurks in Great Bay with staff members from the Great Bay Discovery Center. Make a cool and colorful whirlygig, too! (Closes at 3 pm.)

JESTER HATS

Using paper, glitter, glue and more, create festive and playful hats with Stacie Sevigny.

TEDDY BEAR CLINIC

Bring your Teddy Bears for a complete check up and loving care from the staff at Lamprey Health Care. (Closes at 1 pm.)

PETS & LOLLIPOP COVERS

Meet Nellie the Chihuahua and some of her friendly animal friends from the NHSPCA. Make a kitty or puppy lollipop cover as you learn about the importance of I.D. tags for
your pets.

COMMUNITY MURAL

Be part of this year’s Heritage Festival community art project! Using a variety of paints and techniques, work with local artist Leslie Allain to help create a giant mural featuring the wildlife of the Lamprey River to be displayed at the end of the festival.

SPINNING

Local fiber craftswoman Melissa Walker demonstrates the art of spinning on her sturdy New Zealand spinning wheel, and shows how to felt wool.

FELT MAKING & WEAVING

Learn how threads become fabric and try your hand at weaving on a loom with Judith Gloston-Getz.

FACE PAINTING

Have your face transformed into an amazing work of art by the expert face painters from Newmarket’s Aryaloka Buddhist Center.

Decorating eggs with hot wax and dye is an ancient form of Ukrainian folk art. Give it a try with teacher Gail Hahn. (age 5+; must be accompanied by an adult).

WHALE BONE EXHIBIT

Come see real whale bones brought to you by the Seacoast Science Center! Use microscopes to learn about the largest mammals and other creatures of the sea.

TRADING FACES

Learn how to draw facial features different ways with art teacher Janet Riley.

OIL PASTEL FLORALS

Create your very own “oil pastel floral” with local artist Rose Bryant.
