Traditional Tools to Try

BIT BRACES AND BLOCK PLANES; spoke shave and shaving horse;  augers, boring machine, treadle lathe–find all these traditional tools and more in the Heritage Festival Children’s Tent. (Pssst: Grown-ups can try them, too!) David Emerson specializes in “Old Ways Tools.” “I’ve worked with too many adults struggling to use hand tools,” he says, “because they never became comfortable with them when young. It’s my hope that many of the kids who use our tools will eventually be able to enjoy hand tool work as they grow older.” http://www.heritage-festival.org/index.php/program/childrens-tent/
