WELCOME!

DANCE AND SING! LAUGH AND LEARN! EAT AND BE MERRY!

This year marks the Newmarket Heritage Festival’s 10th season as the Seacoast’s favorite little international block party, an annual celebration of arts, culture, history and community. Standing watch over the festivities are the buildings that first shaped this town. The mills, where so many labored so hard, are tangible reminders that by working—and celebrating—together it is possible to achieve a sense of community, a place of belonging. We hope you'll join us!

2007 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

EACH YEAR, THE FESTIVAL FEATURES A RICH MIX OF TALENTED PERFORMERS AND ARTISANS. SOME OF THIS YEAR'S HIGHLIGHTS:

The internationally acclaimed Inca Son plays music of the Andes. The Chinese Folk Art Workshop astounds with their spinning diabalos and traditional dragon dance. The Akwaaba Ensemble fills the stage with the rhythms of Africa. Back by popular demand this year: the soul-inspiring Voices from the Heart, the gospel tunes of the Funky Divas, the exquisite harmonies of the 60-voice Granite Statesmen barbershop chorus, and the ever-popular accordion warrior, Gary Sredzienski. There will be Irish, Laotian, and Indian dance performances, presentations by local school children, and a Saturday night dance party with the Reminisants, one of the most popular dance bands in New England. Also featured: artisans at work, boat tours, kayaking on the river, a model railway, international cooking demonstrations, history walks, delicious food, dozens of vendors, and great activities for kids.

History and Mission

The Newmarket Heritage Festival celebrates the historic, cultural, and natural heritage of a small New England mill town. The three-day event takes place in the heart of historic downtown Newmarket overlooking the Lamprey River and features multi-cultural music and dance, artisan demonstrations, historic walking tours, narrated boat tours, kayak excursions, a model railway, hands-on children's activities, fine arts and crafts, vendor booths, international foods, and more. Standing watch over the festivities are the buildings that first shaped this town. The mills, where so many labored so hard, are tangible reminders that by working—and celebrating—together it is possible to achieve a sense of community, a place of belonging. We hope you'll join us!

Rooted in the diversity of Newmarket's past and present, the Newmarket Heritage Festival is produced by the Newmarket Main Street Corporation (NMSC), a nonprofit group dedicated to strengthening and revitalizing the historic and cultural characteristics of the community and to preserving the legacy of Newmarket for future generations. The NMSC is a 501 (c) (3) organization.
