Stories about the natural world--plus sea creatures to see and touch--read by Newmarket resident Marilyn Gilmour, program naturalist at the Seacoast Science Center and 2003 NH Environmental Educator of the Year. Waterfront tent.

3:30 – 4:30 pm: Cheswell Burying Ground Walking Tour
Wentworth Cheswell (1747 – 1817) was one of Newmarket's founding fathers. Of African-American ancestry, he served the town for more than 50 years in many capacities, from selectman to assessor to scrivener. Tour guide Rich Alperin, chief fundraiser to restore the deteriorating stone that marks Cheswell's grave, lives on the site of the Cheswell family home. Meet at Town Hall.

4:00 – 5:00 pm: KING LUDWIG’S BAVARIAN BAND

Saturday night ham and bean supper is cooked up by the Newmarket firefighters, with music by King Ludwig’s strolling band. Cos: Adults $5; Children free. Proceeds to benefit the Newmarket Fireman’s Auxiliary.

Gospel Music Finale
7:00 – 8:30 pm: JIM MacDOUGALL and THE FUNKY DIVAS OF GOSPEL
The rockin’ divas and their full gospel choir close out the festival with their uplifting, life-affirming, hand-clapping, toe-taping, dance-in-the-aisles music. Main tent. funky-divas.com

Ringing of the Bells
8:30 pm: FAREWELL TO HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2003
Pause and listen to the sound of Newmarket’s past. The church bells that have been marking time through the years bring the festival to a ringing conclusion. Main tent.
